Attenuated vaccines
An attenuated vaccine is a safe and harmless version of the original pathogen, which still causes a mild infection. And which in many cases you won’t even notice.
This is for instance used in vaccines against polio (Sabin), measles and chickenpox, and in the nasal spray against influenza given to children.
