What is your favourite bacterium?

Bifidobacteria - make up most of the “good” bacteria living in the gut. These bacteria begin colonizing the gastrointestinal system almost immediately after we’re born

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to make life better in my community, but didn’t know what job I wanted. I am now a Public Engagement Manager and work with researchers and scientists to engage public groups with science and research to achieve positive societal impact

Alternatively, I wanted to be a duck-billed platypus

 

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?

I told someone that, when I was a child, I wanted to be a duck-billed platypus when I grew up

What is your secret ambition?

To explore the Inca trail

How do you relax?

I am at one with my sofa, I love to listen to music and watch films (before and during lockdown)

 

What was your nickname in school (and why)?

Carlo, Carlos, Carlitos (my friends weren’t very imaginative)

 

Tell us a little known interesting fact about you.

When I was 14, I worked on a leather jacket stall at Splott Market. The jackets felt heavier than me.

Pizza
