Hygiene means doing things to stay healthy and stop sickness from spreading. This includes washing hands, taking baths or showers, cleaning surfaces and handling food carefully. When we practice good hygiene, we lower the chances of getting sick and help keep ourselves and others healthy. This is important for everyone's well-being and to keep communities safe.

Because we constantly touch things in our environment that may carry microbes, washing our hands well is particularly important for stopping these microbes from spreading. Especially in places like hospitals, washing hands helps keep everyone safe from serious illnesses.
