Joanna Ainsworth has been a successful biology teacher for the last 18 years at The Macclesfield Academy in the heart of Cheshire, and has overseen excellent results for the school as Head of Science.

The teaching of health and disease has been a key topic for her since her time at Durham University and has influenced a lot of her pupils to apply for medical and research positions after studying A-level biology. The teaching of infection and response is key to improving lives both in the UK and abroad and was brought to the forefront of people’s minds during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jo and the Academy are looking forward to moving forward with this international project and working with both the Superbugs team and the other schools.
