Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen is a bilingual comprehensive secondary school for approx. 1,000 pupils aged 11–18. It was established in 1894, the first to be built under the Welsh Intermediate Education Act 1889, which was heavily influenced by the educator Sir Hugh Owen, after whom the school was named.
Fun fact: Notable people educated at the school include the former footballer Ronald Wyn Davies who made over 550 Football League appearances in the 1960s and 1970s, and who earned 34 caps and scored six goals for Wales.
